It attracts the target audience of teenagers/young adults well, both using typical 'pop-punk' conventions and adapting them to attract a wider range by appealing to the 'X-Factor' and 'Britains got Talent' fans as well. I think that our digipack, when put together, is effective. So we took an idea from Michael Jackson's single cover for 'Dirty Diana' and adapted it to look punk, using Doc Martin boots and 'punk' distorted fonts and colours, whilst keeping the 'Michael Jackson' down the side similar to the original 'Bad' cover. I tried this idea out on the cover of Michael Jackson's 'Bad' album and although it looked good, i could not use it because the image wasn't original. We took the idea for our CD/DVD cover after seeing the 'Punk goes 90's', where they took the Nirvana cover for Nevermind and changed it to be stereotypically punk. The albums are compilation album of several 'punk' bands playing msic from a different genre. Our digipack was created to attract fans of the 'Punk goes Pop' selection of albums. This is shown in the camerawork, as it pans across the table to show all of the judges. We arranged the judges into a line with the table in front as it is a typical judges panel arrangement. In tv shows such as Britains Got Talent, there will be cuts from shots of the band to shots of the judges reactions (as shown in this clip), which we included in our music video.Īlso, in the clip you see that the judges wear more formal clothes, so in the mise-en-scene we decided to dress up in formal yet casual clothes. The camerawork and editing we chose made it seem like a real media product. This attracts a wider audience as it attracts both pop-punk music fans and X-factor/Britains got Talent fans. However, we developed our idea to attract to the audience by having a 'X-Factor/Britains Got Talent' audition as part of the narrative. The song we chose was from the pop punk genre and my group and I researched pop-punk music videos and found they were lighthearted and not too serious, which we conformed to in our idea. My media product challenges and develops the conventions of real media products.
